Press Release:

Macadamian Employees Spearhead Gatineau-Ottawa Agile Tour 2012

Macadamian, a global leader in user experience design and software development, today announced that it is co-sponsoring the first edition of the Agile Tour in the National Capital Region, a full day event held on Wednesday, November 28th, 2012 at la Maison du Citoyen located at 25, rue Laurier in Gatineau. Macadamian consulting director Anthony Sheehan is chairing the event and numerous additional Macadamian employees are involved with planning and presenting.

Agile practices, recently cited by Forbes as businesses best-kept management secret, are increasingly used as a management approach to implement lean and customer-focused behaviours in organizations to better interact with customers, suppliers and partners. The Agile Tour will benefit technology companies and any organization planning development of software and mobile applications to better serve their customers’ needs.

“Agile is a crucial skill required in today’s business environment, driven by the need for companies to deliver more with less in an increasingly condensed business environment,” said Macadamian CEO & Co-Founder Frédéric Boulanger. “Efficiently adapting to change is a fundamental factor in getting to market faster than your competitors.”

The Gatineau–Ottawa Agile Tour (GOAT) features four tracks with 12 insightful talks and interactive experiences from some of the most seasoned Agile practitioners in the region, including Macadamian interaction designer Francis Beaudet and design director Jennifer Fraser. Their workshop will focus on Colliding Worlds of Designers and Developers, showcasing best practices for designers and developers to work together to create great products quickly.

“Macadamian’s support for GOAT 2012 is a testimony to our company’s strong belief in an incremental and collaborative approach as a means of producing fantastic software,” said Macadamian consulting director and chair of GOAT Anthony Sheehan. “Whether you are on a development team or the project management side of any business, Agile practices lead to team success, better products, and ultimately happier customers.”

The GOAT event culminates with two keynote speakers: software development expert J.B. Rainsberger discussing best practices for Agile design, and “The Networking Guru” Michael J. Hughes speaking about leveraging networking approaches to maximize project management. Additionally, an open space will be provided throughout the day allowing anyone to bring a topic forward and discuss it with attendees. A full program listing can be found online on the Agile Tour Site.

Tickets for the event are now available at a rate of $55, or $33 for students. Tickets include a continental breakfast, snacks, lunch and door prizes.

The Agile Tour is organized in partnership with Agile Ottawa and Agile Alliance.
