Bringing Windows 8 metro apps to life with great design and notifications
Location: 100 Queen Street, Unit 500, Ottawa, ON
Want to understand the values of Metro design and bring your apps alive? A Windows 8 Metro app is more than just a port of an existing application or a good combination of XAML+NET or HTML+JS. Developers of great Metro apps understand the principals of metro design and how to engage users with their app even when they are nolonger running.
Marc Gagne (Technical Evangelist at Microsoft Canada) & Colin Melia (Microsoft Regional Director and awarded Microsoft MVP) will present two key sessions around Metro design on Windows 8. In the first session, Marc will explain and apply the principals of Metro design while explaining the steps for taking an existing website and transforming it into a great Windows 8 metro app. In the second session, Colin will show you how to draw users into your app with start screen tiles (that's plural) and how to provide cloud-based notifications to update the tiles and/or provide users with direct user notifications which launch specific application content.
