Sage: Macadamian helps an Electronic Health Records provider increase customer satisfaction through a more intuitive user interface.
Sage, a provider of end-to-end clinical and financial technology solutions, has more than 6 million customers worldwide and employs more than 13,000 employees in 24 countries. When the company wished to update and enhance the user interface of its popular Sage Intergy EHR solution without alienating its existing user base, it turned to Macadamian for help.
Sage’s goal was straightforward: to provide a simpler, more intuitive experience for clinicians. Through an in-depth product value analysis workshop, user research and on-site interviews with Sage’s end users, Macadamian helped the company identify the most important areas of the UI to update. One such area was the “encounter note” section of the EHR – the area in which clinicians can place initial assessment notes or follow-up progress notes on a patient. To help clinicians focus on patients rather than paperwork, Macadamian worked with Sage to develop new concept designs that would improve the speed, usability and value of encounter notes. User research also identified areas in which the solution did not “speak the language” of EHR users via terms or keywords that clinicians did not use on a regular basis.
Sage and Macadamian assembled concept designs to address the findings from the user research and tested them with clinical end users via a clickable prototype. This testing generated exceptionally positive user feedback and provided Sage with confidence that its new UI would not only be more intuitive and useful to users, but that it would be well received in the marketplace.
