Earlier this year, Macadamian presented a Cascades application on the new BlackBerry 10 operating system at BlackBerry World. Last week, I attended BlackBerry Jam in San Jose, an event designed for developers to showcase and learn. Here are some of the highlights:
1. The keynote address, given by Thorsten Heins, was positive and exciting. In addition to providing updates on the company’s vision and leadership, he showcased new BlackBerry 10 features such as peak, flow, and hub.
2. The event featured a number of excellent educational sessions, including optimization and performance labs, Bluetooth/HDMI integration, and jQuery mobile for BB10. The diversity of sessions allowed each developer to focus on specific interests, while capitalizing on the opportunity to learn new things.
3. Meeting developers from the BlackBerry community was a refreshing experience. The community itself is always growing and meeting allows members to collaborate on various topics.
4. RIM also hosted an “Ask the Experts” program, which allowed developers to sit down with experts and dive deeper into subjects discussed during sessions.
Overall, the conference has left me with a positive outlook towards Research In Motion, the BlackBerry brand and the BB10 platform. I cannot wait to attend next year’s Jam!
